2008 F-250 turbo problem 6.4L

driving yesterday on cruise control running about 65 mph on flat ground no trailer. aabout 2 miles from my destination there was a loud pop/explosion under the hood or floor, lost high pressure on turbo psi gauge. still have the low pressure turbo working properly but no high pressure (can get turbo psi to about 15 ish) after that there is no turbo pressure. Sound: sounds like there is a high volume of air flow but cant tell where it is coming from just can hear it.

have taken a quick look and am not highly mechanical on diesel trucks so not too knowledgable on them. but after looking and letting sit there is no fluid leaks or any hoses or attachments loose that i could see.

Any other leads on what to check? have a diesel shop that i trust and can take it to that specializes on powerstrokes but wont be open until thursday.

If a hose popped off he wouldn't develop any boost; the fact that he sees 15 PSI indicates that something else is wrong.

Could be lots of things, but the fact that it happened suddenly means that you could have lost a turbo.

That's where my mind keeps going, but from all I've heard when a turbo fails there isn't a pop or explosion. But the symptoms say that I have no turbo pressure from the high pressure turbo.

The hose prob burst but didn't blow all the way off..... you should be able to HEAR it leaking by just opening the hood. Then look for where the leak is coming from.

I would inspect all turbo boots. Then start it at idle if you need to verify where the air is releasing from.

typically I would expect no boost pressure at all but your discription sure points to the boots.

My f350 6.4 has an exhaust leak before turbo

can I fix this without the cab coming off and maybe without the tranny coming out?
thanks

No cab off for Turbo boots. If it is a Turbo then cab off is preffered

I'm thinking a boot...

If a turbo failed, Cab off is likely but can be done with cab-on, just a lot more work to get there and by the time you prep to get to the turbos with cab on, it's only six bolts to lift the cab.

Alright I'm planning to have another look tomorrow, but does anyone have a diagram at what to look for that would help tremendously!

That's most likely your downpipe. Easy repair. Get an aftermarket one, (two piece, cut the old one out and install new one. You'll be doing your truck a favor by getting rid of the OEM restrictive pipe.
