aftermarket wheels & Offsets

I am curoius with anyone that is running new wheels what offset do you have.
Factory offset is +40 and curious to see if anyone has pictures or comments of how far tire is outside of fender with zero offset. The wheels I am looking for are going to be around a +20 but finding difficulty with availibility once I visit the local Les Schwabb and have them check what I am looking for. The mfg will show the size I want on their website but once the dealer looks it up they will say not available. My main thought is to keep the tire under the fender as much as possible. Thanks for any help or comments.

Tight Lines
Erik

This seems to be a source of confusion for me as well. It is my understanding that if I use 20x9 wheels I can install 35" Trail Grapplers that are 12.5 wide. "most of what I think" I can expect think is a 0 offset wheel correct? I want to toughen this truck up a bit but I am certain I don't want to kick up stones on my paint.

A quick approximation to get you from offset to backspacing is: ((Wheel Width + 1") / 2) + Offset.

So for a 20x8" factory wheel with a 40mm offset (inset = positive offset):
((8" + 1") / 2) + 1.57" (40mm) = 6.07" backspacing.

So for a 20x8.5" American Racing wheel with a 18mm offset (inset = positive offset):
((8.5" + 1") / 2) + 0.709" (18mm) = 5.46" backspacing.

This guy summed it up great...

Aftermarket Wheels

Savage, I notice you are running the Toyo 35 x 12.50 which are a 65 PSI tire.
What did you do to keep the TPSM light from coming on? Did the dealer reset for you and at what pressure?

Not to bust your chops Andre but your wheels are -12 offset 20x9.

+18 20x9 wouldn't stick out past the fenders, it would be close to even with the fenders.

I just wanted everyone to have the most accurate info to make a decision with.

Here's a pic of 20x10 wheels with -18 offset. They stick out about 2"

Wheel offsets

I would have to agree with you Andrew. +18 offset should put your tires about even or just barely outside the fenders, depending on width of tires. My idea is to run a 35 to 35 1/2 that is 11.50 wide on this wheel, so to stay close to tucked under the fender.

Thanks, Erik

He's right folks...I was typing too fast and just saw the opposite measurement on the XD web page. Sorry for the misinformation

I had mine adjust by the dealer. I don't remember what I had to them adjusted to, but I think it's 50 psf. I usually run 65psf in them.

Now that looks nice. I'm looking for 1" less width with 20x9. I'm concerned that 20x10 may kick up stones on my paint. Notice any scratches?

There's a couple really small chips but that's going to happen no matter what.

I haven't noticed any new chips though with the trail grapplers. All the chips I got were with the A/T tires I had before. I have amp steps too so the paint is fully exposed and still no problems in 7500 miles.

Talk to your dealer...they can adjust this, but prolly don't want to.

Ken, Just wondering why you put that tire on a SD? If you try to haul anything near the stated limits of the truck, you are going to have problems with your tires. That sounds like a load range C or D tire.

I'm all for comfy ride, and I did have my dealer change the TPMS to 60PSI all the way around, so that I can run my tires at 60-65PSI when I am not hauling anything. But for sure, I air up accordingly otherwise.

EDIT: I see in another post you like BFG Long Trail tires. Are these the ones you put on your truck? If so, those are passenger tires...
