Hypnosis

I know people that have used hypnosis to quit smoking (or other bad habits), but I think the effects of the hypnosis go away of you revert to smoking. I remember a psych teacher from many years ago that would hypnotize students to quit smoking by making them throw-up if they put a cigarette to their lips. So, if every time you try to light a cig, you wretch, you're supposed to quit. However, while I didn't actually see this in action (he told us his method and said some students tried it), I have to believe that after a few episodes of losing your lunch, the effects would diminish. What the hypnosis is supposed to do is provide you the tools to quit, not to replace the habit (I think).
As for the desire to smoke, it doesn't go away. I have been smoke free for almost 20 years and I still get the desire (though very rare) for a cigarette.
