they will not total for that. you can either pull the dent, or change the quarter panel skin.

That's what I figured TJC. I would think they might pull it. MY pictures aren't very good but the crease is also dented so I would really like the quarter panel skin replaced. I just don't want it to look like crap.

Any body shop would pull it and use thin coat of mud and paint whole bedside.....and if they are gonna put a whole bed skin on it be sure you actually have proof they put one on and didnt fix it as described above some shops are very dishonest and would pull that kinda crap

well, if they were gonna skin the side, they would probably just replace the bed. it would be cheaper for the shop

Skins are easy to do on these trucks a lot cheaper to do than finding one of our beds rust free or even in decent shape

If they skin the1/4 ,they will have to blend the adjacent panel .. If the truck is rust free , have them repair the panel ...you will be much better off ...

I hope it won't get totaled. I can't possibly replace my truck. I've put new tires, rims, a superhitch system, new trans with cooler, and some other mods, not to mention the rest of the body and interior are freaking perfect. I would think I could sell mine for at least 10k before the accident. Guess I'll get my receipts together of all the work and money I've put into the truck. There's no freaking way I'm losing my truck because of a drunk driver. I'm also unemployed at the moment and can't afford another one like it.

You get a chance to buy it back, and you can register it again. blah blah blah.
The only benefit of this is they will pay you supposed value of the truck, lets take mike's case for instance here.

They gave him 7 grand insurance money and he had the opportunity to buy back for... 3500 I think.

Sometimes it doesn't work out quite that well, Sometimes they will give you a bull**** amount for your truck and total it, and then ask almost the amount they gave you for it back.
Depends on how crooked the insurance company is.

But then again, now a days if somebody sneezes on your truck, the insurance company will total them out.
I think the government is forcing them to not fix them, but to total them.

Anyways, Rick does body work and paint, so when it comes to fixing this stuff, actionrick knows what he's talkin about. =)

With mine they told me they would not pay for aftermarket thing unless it was added to my insurance policy. But told me if I had everything to return it to stock I could take my parts.

Here in La. When you do a buy back you will have a salvage title and will only be able to have liability insurance until you do all repairs and state police and DMV wright off on it to upgrade the title to a recondition title. When I talked to state police about it they said they do a full vehicle inspection and then give the report to DMV and its up to them to decide if they will upgrade the title.

You got hosed all the way around ...

They can't salvage the title if you don't give it to them ...Plus , they rarely salvage older vehicles , especially if it is owner retained..There are many options . You can take a settlement , do an agreed price repair , owner retention . If the offending insurance co is paying they will not have the final say .. The value of the vehicle is negotiable too .. Just need to show what a comparably equipped , mileage truck is selling for ..

Also ,on edit . Here when you insure a vehicle , they never see or care if its a salvage title ...

Here you won't get a check till they get the title.

To do a buy back here you have to sell the truck to the insurance signing the title over to them and then you buy the truck back signing a bill asale and re registering the truck and when your new title comes in it will be a salvage title.
