Radio stays on after key is out.
I have an 06 350 that at one time the dash went out and I lost pw,radio, all gauges.I replaced the dash and all works, but now the radio stays on after I pull the key and lock the doors. It does not have key fob plus the dome light wont come on when door is opened. Radio stays on for about 20 min if I dont turn it off . Any ideas?

Sounds to me like the key sense isn't working. This feature by Ford makes it so that basically you can sit in the vehicle even with the key out and listen to the stereo until a door is opened.I don't know when it became standard, but it is a feature.I had to find this wire when i did my alarm/remote install because after the remote start would time out,the radio would continue to play.

I wonder if it all could be related to the door switch ? If the light isn't coming on then the radio isn't turning off. This truck has been in my fleet of service plumbing trucks since 2008, just replaces it with a Transit Connect so I retired it to my farm. Just put in a new 5.4 last month, body perfect. Hey, 25 mpg compared to 13mpg. No brainer.

Agree ^^^^ bad door switch.
Do you have power door locks? If I recall right the switch is in the lock
assembly and some guys have been able to get it working by using
some spray lube in the power lock unit.
I'll look later and tell you where you need to look.
Sean
I did some looking and the switch is right next to the door latch and the power lock. You are looking
for a 2 wire plug if you remove the plug the curtesy lamps (Dome lights) should come on with the key off
The wires should be on C526 Black and Light Green /Yellow if no remote with a remote you will have
Black and Yellow/Black for the drivers door. If you need all the plug # and wire colors PM me and I'll
send them to you. But your going to have to check each door till you find the fault. I also need to know
if you have 2 or 4 doors. And even if you don't have the fob for the locks if you have that system installed.

Little General,
Have you had time to take the door panels off yet?
The passenger side door should have the plug in the same place.
One of the two should turn the light on when you unplug it.
The passenger side wire color is Black and Gray/Red or Pink/Light Blue C602
The Black wire is the signal ground

Ok what that tells me is that you have a short closer to the GEM and
not in the door switches. Your going to have to get a copy of the wiring diagram
for your truck and start tracing the wires back to the GEM. There has to be a short
somewhere in where the work was done and that is where I would start first.

Ok, I have all the facts now an a service truck I bought from my company. Last summer the power windows, door locks, speedometer, tach, and all gauges stopped working. Ford would not fix it under the TSB on jumping tach. It had 100k miles , no warranty. BTW, its a 2006 F350 XL 5.4 gas. All the ford dealers use Downtown Radio company for their rebuilt dashes, radios, etc so I took out my dash and swapped it out with them. Now I get the TBC fault every time I start up the truck and the dome light doesn't come on when the door is open ( either door, reg cab ) nor will the radio cut off when the door is opened. It will work from the switch and the radio will eventually cut off in about 20 min. plus , if I let the truck sit for over 3 days, the battery goes dead. Its a brand new battery so I have a parasite drain somewhere. Tomorrow I am going to remove the dash and make sure all the plugs are secure and if they are I will do the amp test on the neg battery post and pull some fuses. Since the door light doesn't work, i don't have to worry about that light pulling current. I wonder if i have a faulty dash. I will also call the repair shop Monday and talk with their tech. Any ideas? Also, I had a retired Ford Certified MEchanic do the dash the first time, but he had gone off the grid for some reason. Sorry this is so long, but tried to be thorough.
Also, found out that if the door is open and engine is running, I turn off the key and the light comes on. Im going to the dealer tomorrow to have the guage cluster checked again.

You need access to a better level scanner to access these two modules VSM
and the GEM. I think you may find that is's the GEM. It would help if you
had the tools to do pin point testing. In the long run it may cost less to
have a Ford mechanic do it because they have the breakout boxes.
When I get some time tonight I can look in my workshop manuals and
see what I can find.
