What happens if I remove this?

The window cladding on my 99 Navigator is fading (I never liked how it looked anyway). I decided to attempt prying it off with a screwdriver but there doesn't appear to be any way to do this without destroying the plastic. The cladding seems bigger than the glass underneath and I don't want to be stuck with something that looks even uglier than it does now.

Compared to this 99 Expedition, it looks like the window opening is a slightly different size. I noticed the glass does not extend all the way to the right underneath the trim on mine.

OK, I used a razor blade, screwdriver, and cleaned it up. This was the result:

It looks like you did a great job but, I prefer my Navigator to look like one and not like an Expedition. I don't like the appearance of my hinge covers or whatever they're called but I think I would have a paint shop paint them to get the original appearance back. Then again they might look better if they were the same color as the body. I think your
Navigator would be really sharp that way.
