Snow Tires
Rather than hijack another's thread I will start one specific thread.
Using stock tires or the equivelant sizing what works well in snow. I have used BFG TKO, Pepboys Definity Dakotas, and the current Silent Armor tires.
I find both the local cops in SUV's and I slide too much with the goodyears after the first year on the trucks. New they were great but late in life the rubber is too hard.
I liked the BFG's used them on Tacomas, Fords, Jeeps and even my Samurai. Always worked well but lasts only 35-40,000 miles. Not that I commute much anymore but 2-3 years is all I would get out of the tires with one trip a year back east.
Pepboys are just Cooper tires but did the job when I was broke.
Most all the Ex's out here are lifted minimal 6" and have 35-37" tires. Big ugly monster tires great for the asphalt off roader. Looks great for awhile but I have no needs to lift more than the stock 3.5" lift and like the MPG's I am getting. I am thinking of going with 2 sets of tires a highway set and the winter set. I just bought a 2nd set of factory rims so I can do this. If you post a photo include the tread design too.
Opinions are like A**h*les. So let's see what you got. Tell it like it is and how well your tires do in the snow. BTW I hit an ice patch 1/4 mile long and 4X4 or not I was everywhere. Glad I was only going 20MPH. The Suburban went 45-55 right off the road a good 150 feet. Best air shot I ever saw. Short of the 1/4 mile ice my driveway and roadway in front of my house is the worse with my tires. My Samurai goes with no slipping or problems but it only weighs 1800#s. THanks

i have Cooper M&S studded in 265/75 16s. i run these on my excursion and explorer they are amazing and change the whole dynamic of the truck compared to my summer tires. i also run firestone winterforce studded on my Expedition and they are also great! be warned though both will wear fast on dry pavement as they are a soft very well siped snow tire.
they handle the snow/ice wonderfully.
my truck is lifted 2.5" in the front and 2" in the rear. i use stock wheels with stock size 265/75 16 and i dont think they look funny or too small.
my summer wheels/tires on top, snow tires on bottom.
