2.5 leveling kit ?

i have a 96 f150 4x4 and looking to do a leveling kit. I see the 2" leveling kit, but i wanted alittle more like 2.5. I DONT plan on wheeling this truck ( my work truck ). I know they make a 2.5 suspension kit with drop down brackets for the beans & radius arms, but is that really needed ? Cant i just use 2.5 springs and no brackets ??? i mean a 1/2 inch difference isnt much..... any thoughts ?

thanks

They are not needed, but I would recommend them, You could do springs and block them if needed to get a 2.5 inch lift. But if you do that the truck isnt going to as stable and will seem more top heavy and on top of that it puts alot more stress on the springs which could end up being dangerous but you could if your experienced or know someone that can just make custom brackets and weld them if you feel the need for more support but want to save money. In my opinion I'd buy an actual leveling kit though.

The issue is when it comes time or allignment. It's hard enough to get the allignment right with just the 2". The extra 1/2" might push the balljoints to the limits without the drop bracket.

Ever thought of a moog 844 coil swap when I did mine i never had to touch my alignment and it stat level if not a half inch taller in front until I did the 2450lb rear 150hd leafs and now it sits amazing with plenty of travel on 31x10.5x15 with a nice looking rake

Iowan-
If you didn't touch the allignment then your wheels must be like \--/ when looking at the front of the truck. Mine were WAY out when I put the 2" spacers in. Lifting the TTB WILL cause camber to go out at the top. There's no way around it... Cost me $400 for the allignment after installing the spacers because they had to fight to get the camber where it should be. I realized then I should have put that 400 towards a 4"lift with all the drop brackets instead

so basically i should just get the 2.5 whole lift kit and not just the coils..... I guess i could get the 2in spacers but that sounds like a pain to align aswell. Anyone have the RC 2.5 lift ? thats the one i was looking at
