The axle has a 10.25" ring gear and is manufactured by Sterling. There is a new dump truck of the same manufacturer at the paper mill where I work. I don't know about the redline though. The truck in my signature shifts at about 4600 RPM going full throttle, so I would imagine it isn't far away. I have the factory tachometer which shows up to 6000 RPM but I don't know who in their right mind would rev a truck engine that high!

I don't know the exact answer but I have read on this site that the 90's series of 460s redlined around 4,500-5,000. In any case, from experience with my 460, anything over about 4,000 is just a lot of thrashing around with no real gain in power.
Some sites mention redlines as high as 6-7K, but that is for modified engines.
There was some mention on this site that over 5,000 RPM, the 460 rods are prone to failure, which is really bad. Unless you are modifying the engine and taking care of the rotating assembly, you probably don't want to pass 5,000.
Besides a 460 is a torque engine and made to haul but at low RPM. Who wants a whiney high RPM screamer that can't motivate a near 4 ton truck?
Good Luck,
Jim Henderson
