Performance parts for an I6
Hello all !
I'm a 15 year old & this is my first post to the FTE forums.
Can anyone help me on some things for my 68?
Is there any place making performance parts for a truck that old?
If so, where ?
Am I in the right place ?
I didnt know where else to go
Thanks Casey

Just about anything that will make my truck move faster !
Even if all it does, is make the truck lighter.. lol.
Right now i have the straight 6, but I dont have the money or time yet to buy a V-8.
Once i do get some money, what size V8 should I get, and will I need to buy a new tranny with it?
If anyone knows if I can add like the cold air filters, etc.
Please let me know ..and thanks for the welcome to the boards and the quick reply.
Thanks, Casey

Use the search feature and explore the inline 6 forum. There are ways to get more from your 300.
They are not cheap, and by the time it's all said and done you may spend enough to V8. But, if you want to go a piece at a time, it wil allow you to keep the 300.
Clifford makes performance parts for the inline 6. Use that name in a search.
good luck. You can have a lot of fun tuning up that six, and yoyu've got some torque to start with. In the end, you would at least be a little different.

A four barrel intake and carb with split exhaust manifolds off of a late model straight six will go a very long ways to pepping up your truck. You might even find as I did that the straight sixes are great engines and a V8 conversion isn' t really that much of a trade up.

get a four barrel intake and carb i think offenhausser makes an intake for a straight 6 and also you may be able to find some hedmen headers on ebay for cheaper than you think. i think the headers are not made anymore but the other day i was looking because i just got a 71 short wheel base with a 300. i am putting a hopped up 302 in it with a c4 and a shift kit in it soon. i already have the machine work done.now i just need the .060 over rings and the gasket set to put it together.

There are several companies that make performance parts. A 2 or 4 barrel intake with carb, a cam, and a header can make a big difference. Find a local machine shop to mill, port, and put larger valves in the head. Also consider a gear ratio change if you put a big cam in your engine. You probably have a Ford 9" rearend, and there are plenty of gear choices available.
Here are a few sites for parts.
