Finally started collecting parts
Well finally started collecting the parts to help the pulling power out on the f350. Bought an ats 088 turbo for the truck. Now I need to start working at getting the exhaust and gauges then it will be time to spend a weekend putting the parts on the truck. The motor has 170,000 I think it still does have the original pump and injectors. Thinking about putting turbo injectors and pump in it while I am doing the rest of the work.

I have a question were can I find the screen for the intake on the truck? Mine is missing and the one I got with the turbo was tore up. I work as a heavy truck mechanic and have seen the turbo come apart. With no intercooler the parts would get blown strait into the intake which would not be good. Have not had any luck finding one yet.

Yep, that is the part that I need. I was able to find all the other o rings that I needed. I got a pcv valve groomet from the parts store but it is a little smaller then the factory hole so it has been leaking. Also discovered that I am going to have to put another oil pan on the truck here soon, thing is starting to get rust holes in it. That is not going to be fun.

Well getting ready to pull the motor to pull the motor and replace the oil pan and the gaskets. Made a 800 mile round trip to pick up a camper. Camper weighs more then the truck. Truck only saw 4 pounds of boost. Leaked 3 gallons of oil out during the trip. I think while I have the motor out of the truck I am going to put in new injectors, fuel pump, water pump and oil pump in it. Does any one have any pics of a hx35 installed on the ats o88 turbo pedestal. Wondering if I am going to have to cut the firewall to get enough room to install it. the o88 is a tight fit to get it in and out. Was thinking about installing the hx35 and an intercooler while I had the motor out of the truck.

How much larger is the compressor, then the 088 the largest part on the 088 is the exhaust with the bends it has for the in and out sections that are built into the housing. Another thought that I had was to put a body lift on the truck which would give me more clearance for a larger turbo.

Hx35 compressor housing is considerably bigger than the 088. I dont think a body lift would really help.
Check for drive / boost leaks. Guy i work with has a 90 crew cab that had a 7.3 / 088 and he could hit 20 empty with a maxxed out pump. I only see 10/11 with mine buy my pump is weak and i have one hell of a drive leak where the 'Y' goes into the the exhuast housing.

Still have not done any work to the truck other then attempt to fix some of the oil leaks. Got a promotion at work, so we ended up moving again. Now we live in Elk City, OK. Truck did not like moving the camper down here 4th gear full throttle was 65 mph on flat ground. Found out that my compression tester does not have a big enough of an adapter to test the compression. I am thinking the injectors and pump are the original set. The wife and I went and checked out a local junk yard this weekend and found a 7.3 idi from a 93 or 94 with the factory turbo setup on it. Will be going back in a couple of weeks to get the complete motor, they are asking 400 for it.
