Got this truck in the early 90's, doing a frame up hot rod build, called it frankenstein cause it's got a few bits and pieces from other trucks.
I started it in 2005, put it away until recently. Here are some features:
-heidts ifs
-air ride
-4 link ride tech
-front clip conversion from a 51 f-3
-55 f100 box
-400sbc turbo 350 (it was free don't hate!)
-typ chrome smoothies with w/w 16x8 rear 15x6 front
-glass 51 fenders
Overall i want the truck to look stock other than the chassis and driveline, semi gloss paint possible two tone black on green or just a really dark green with cream grill and semi gloss black running boards. Along with a really snotty 400 sbc stroker. Other than covering the seats and building / machining the motor I will do everything myself. When this thing is done I'm gonna drive it. Everywhere. Not sit and stare at it! I look forward to any comments and help from knowledgeable peeps on here!
Most of these pics and work took place in 2005,I wish I had done some more documenting like I do now!
When I first got it in the early 90's it was running and driving, shortly after it sat here for many years. F**king mice were having a free for all!
Some of the tear down
The 49 box was destroyed so I scored this of my bud's 55 f100. Looks pretty rough but totally usable.
Original motor (had been rebuilt at some point)
Not really into flatheads so I traded the motor for this!
In the above photo; trust me this motorcycle is not a good thing to have around after a night of drinking with your buddies!
This is where I left off about 6 years ago
And now getting back into things here's where I'm at
This motor is a super rare ford 400ci. Looks just like a small block chevy! Haha..Ha?
Original fenders were pretty schmuked up and doctored by the PO so I had to go with glass. (thanks to Mr. 52 Merc for mounting measurements)
Some mach up and bracing. Seats are from a nissan which will be recovered in leather, and the ammo crate will be the centre console
I plan on using the beer keg for fuel and mounting the old military gas can
Nice patina
51 front grill I found in Saskatchewan (along with the hood)
Mounting fenders, fitting, fitting, fitting (and beer)
Here's where I left off today Dec21/12. I have to use 49 inner skirts so more mods and fitting
Here's a peak at the front suspension, still waiting for a sway bar and some bits heidts forgot to send me in a kit.
I have some bits and pieces for sale too, 49 front grill, hood and hood trim all pieces are in really good shape. Inquire I'll post a thread in the for sale section when I have time.

2001 Ford 4x4 Explorer Sport Trac (nice but sucks on MPG its underpowered)
Got my wheels and tires in from coker
Rear tires are 235/70/16 and fronts are 205/75/15
I tracked down a rear diff from a 88 5.0 at a local shop today. Guy gave me the housing for free as long as i buy the brakes parts/ axles/ and 3.08 posi gears from him which I need anyways. Works for me!
Nice deal! Truck looks great as is. Whats the future plan?
The plan is a daily driver, I'll even use it to pull the boat and go fishing/ dirt biking maybe even some camping and road trips. I figure it's best to enjoy it, you only live once!
Bit of an update, got my rear diff back from the builder. it's from an 88 5.0., 3.08 precision crown and pinion gears, posi unit installed with 4 clutches per side shimmed up nice and tight, 5 lug axles, all new brakes & hardware, seals bearings etc.
The one in the pic isn't actually mine but it's the same thing.
Some trimming and clean up.
After all the trimming, sand blasting, rebuilding and a nice coat of epoxy.
Mach up.
This is after installing the shock perches and some motor mach up.
I don't know if it was just me or not, but I swear I heard a ghostly like "sigh" when I met this sbc and ford engine bay for the first time..Scratches head*
