'85 460 into '79 F150

I've been reading through the swap threads on this, but it seems everyone is putting in 460's from earlier cars & 2wd trucks, so here's my question:

I have a donor truck: 1985 Ford F250 4X4 with 460/C6

I want to put it into a 1979 Ford F150 4X4 with 400/4spd

Will ALL of the parts from the '85 bolt into the '79? What obstacles will I need to overcome to do this?

Thanks!!

Mostly. Are you keeping the c-6 or the 4 speed? Thats where its going to get tricky. If you go with the c-6 I think things will be ok, not familiar with the mid 80s enough, so I don't even know if it is computer controlled or that sort of thing. If you go with the 4 speed and are going to use the bellhousing that is currently mounted to it, save time and head scratching and buy the LandL flywheel and clutch set. (about $600) I know it sounds pricey and it is, but it works the first time without any modification. Trust me, I just got done with this swap (not out of a mid 80s though). Also, I don't believe your motor mounts will work. Don't get cheap here, get some that have polyeurethane on them, not the solid mounts. The solid mounts transfer all the vibration from the motor and about rattle the glass out my truck.

Going to put the C6 into the '79 F150.

I don't feel like messing around with the wrong clutch/bell-housing, etc. issues.

I've heard the '85 F250 4X4 motor mounts will work, but they are double-studded so two holes would have to be drilled in the frame mounts. My drill works, so I was going to try this. Any thoughts on motor mounts?

Thanks!

Ok, not sure of the motor mounts, I would recommend taking one of the motor mounts off of the motor once you pull it out and just hold it up against the perches to see if you can drill another hole to fit. Like I said, I am not real familiar with the 80s trucks. Something else to think about, you are going to swap the 4-speed to the c-6. I believe the length of the c-6 and the np435 or t-18 are different. (not sure which 4-speed you have.) I don't have measurements on hand, but I do know the np-435 is roughly 1 inch longer than the t-18. If the c-6 is longer or shorter than your 4 speed manual, you might be able to use the same crossmember due to the fore and aft bolt slots in it, but this only lets you adjust about 3/4" or so. That would be the first thing I would be measuring is the difference in length between the manual and the auto.
