4.30 gears

Are there many Xs that came with 4.30 gears? I have been looking at many for sale trucks online and then taking the VIN to the Ford site to check the build characteristics and have not come across one yet.

Just curious....

Mine came with 4.30 gears. I bought it used from a used car dealer. Axle code on my sticker says C3.

My 2001 Xlt came with 4:30 gears.
The V10 pulls my 34' Airstream as though it isn't behind me..... no downshifting except on extreme grades. Even then I can syllable drive 60 MPH. 17000 combined weight gets me 11-12, 16 empty. I am a light footed slowpoke....

Front door sticker should tell you what the truck has. The sticker has a place called "axle", C3 is 4.30's. Mine came with them and many I looked at had 4.30's.

the 2000s did not have a code on the door sticker for the axle..why i have no clue.

i've had 3 V10 excursions and never lucked out enough to get 4:30s. every one was 3:73s

It should, but not all have axle codes. Mine didn't, and without looking up the VIN and corroborating with an OASIS report from my dealer I wouldn't have found out before the purchase.

Mine has factory 4.30s as well, and I just got lucky with it. I found this out after making the deal to fly down there and buy it.

Out of my 3 excursions, the 00 limited v10 and the 05 limited psd both have 3.73's, while the 00 XLT V10 has the 4.30's
Good luck on the search!

Just for reference, if ound out I had 4.30's by crawling under the drivers door, then looking forward at the front axle. There is a white sticker there that had the 4.30 right on the tag!

4.30`s in an X is like a Needle in a Haystack. sounds like some of us have gotten lucky! Me, I found it easier to install the 4.30`s in my 3.73 equipped X. if you are goinf to be towing heavy then yes hold out for 4.30`s. if you are going to be towing lite, (less than 7000lbs) then 3.73`s are all you`ll need!

Good luck!

Did the 6L come with another ratio besides 3.73?

Seems like only the V10 folks report having 4.30.
Just wondering...
