Headlights still suck. Swap Q's

I am fed up with my headlights on my '90.

Outside of doing the full front clip swap, which eventually will come... I needed to confirm just the headlight buckets will bolt up. I found a page while googling with my smartphone, but cant find it now that I am back on the PC.

This particular page mentioned the core support from 80-86 is the same as 87-91. So, in theory, the headlight buckets for the sealed beams will simply bolt up to where these craptastic composite lamps are now. Is this correct? I know it wont match and look ugly, but I prefer function over form. Later on I can do a clip swap or get creative with some bezels so that it ends up like the Aussie bricknose.

Basically, I want to move from bricknose to bullnose. I will deal with the rest later, but will the headlight buckets mount up without issue?

I wanted to ask before I blow my Saturday pulling apart both trucks only to find they wont.

I think you are wasting your time. While the stock headlights on the 87 to 91 aren't great, they aren't any worse than sealed beams either. I would look into some fog lights to enhance the low beams if you really want to improve your lighting situation.

You could get the Aussie bricknose headlight buckets. They actually look cool. I might do it, if I had a bricknose.

I would look up the core support for both vehicles. If they are the same part #, then the older buckets should bolt up. I think you will need an 80-86 core support, but I'm not sure.

NO, the rad supports are different.

Have you driven a sealed beam lighted truck lately? THEY SUCK. Might as well hold a candle out in front of the truck.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be caught dead driving a Brick nose, but the lights are Far superior to a bull nose.

Have you done the relay/harness mod to get 12V right from the battery, instead of going thru the headlight switch? And a GOOD set of bulbs. Also, if your housings are cloudy, that blocks a lot of light too.

but if you have your heart set on going BULL nose, you will still want the relay/harness mod and a set of Halogen CONVERSION H4 headlights like these Truck Parts and Truck Accessories

RJM and MC offer a relay/harness but RJMs is SUPERIOR in quality

I thought about doing the Aussie bricknose headlight buckets. But I don't know. I almost think The best looking bricknose is one with fresh lenses.

If I dont change my mind my plan is new headlights with clear corners.

Relay setup from LMC (or DIY, for that matter), clear/clean lenses, and a new set of GE Nighthawk Platinum bulbs works well for me.

Something wrong with your truck.. these bricknoses have some of the best headlights every installed on any vehicle. If the lenses are fogged or yellowed then it's time for replacements, then if you don't have all the light you need install some 80w/100w bulbs with a high current conversion kit using relays and heavy gauge wire connected straight to the battery.

A friend bought an HID replacement kit (lamps and lenses) on eBay. He's quite happy with the results and said the price was reasonable. Sounds like a good way to go

I have a 1996 f-50 with foggy composite headlights does anyone know if they make a conversion to sealed beam or a really good composite replacement?
