5.0 to 5.8 swap computer quesiton

I have a 96 f150 that was originally a 5.0 with a AOD. I swapped out the auto and put in a M5OD. Now i am swapping in a 5.8 and a ZF. My question is, Can i get a 96 f150 5.0 5 speed computer and run the 5.8? I know my computer runs my truck fine now without the auto tranny but i want to get rid of the check engine light for all the sensors.
Thanks Guys

No it was not a 5.0 with an AOD. It was a 5.0 and 4R70W transmission. No wonder you have the CEL on. You are much better off with a 5.8L PCM w/manual trans. or find the binary file for that combo then have the PCM re-flashed.

Off subject slightly, I hate to intrude with my own personal question but are the Bronco computers the same as the F150?

If the truck is MAF a 5.0 ECU will run a 5.8.

Yes a MAF 5.0 computer will run a stock 5.8 no problem, but you're not going to find a manual truck version so simply use a Mustang EEC like the A9P, A9L, or C3W1, just note you will have to move a few wires in the EEC connector.

My plan was to just get a 5.0 manual computer. That way it's just plug an play.

If you can find a '96 5.0/5-speed computer then that will work fine, but that's gonna be your problem.. finding one.

Yes. :)

I'm running a manual '90 F250 ^8500# EEC in my '91 Bronco.
It throws 2 digit codes. LOL :)
(usually code "11" ;)

Swapped the 4wd-E4od Bronco to a 2wd-ZF. A certain smog device had a
different resistance than the '90 EEC wanted to see and so had to fix that.
