driveshaft Parking Brake shoe change out on 1996 Ford F-550 Rollback
Hello everyone I am new the the site and I have just recently joined in hopes that some of you could help save me some money by teaching me how to do minor repairs on my tow truck. I have a 1996 Ford F-550 7.3L Diesel 19ft Rollback and my first project is parking brake shoes. I have never done this on a big truck where the parking brake is attached to the driveline itself.
I guess what I need to know is... there any special tools I need that I wouldnt already have lying around the garage? and is there any suprises I may run into. I have looked under the truck and my cable appears to be in good condition (pulling the parking brake shaft in and out when applied). looks like I need to drop the axle and take parking brake housing off. just wasnt sure what I will be facing once Im in there.
Thank you in advanced for any help at all. God bless, -Joe
