New dash switch

Some of us who don't have adjustable pedals have an oval shaped blank plug in the dash. This spot is just begging to have a switch in it. About a year ago I installed some aux reverse lamps and used a crappy ebay switch in this spot. It was real flaky and finally failed completely about a month ago.

So, I came up with an alternate solution. I found a higher quality CW Industries switch at Digikey, part number CW137-ND. The ebay switch was big enough to fit in the hole directly, but this one's smaller so I just cut a hole in the original blank and installed the switch in it.....

Here's the switch location I'm talking about

Here's the switch and the blank

Measure about 10 times and cut once

Like a glove.

Good job. I don't think I have that filler plug on my dash board.

Looks Good!

I did something similar on my 02. I found a decent switch at the parts store that almost fit perfectly. I removed the plug, and filed a little material from the dash. The switch went in and stayed in place with a rubber O-ring as a pinch lock. When I traded the truck in, I was able to put the plug back in without any sign of my switch.
