Heater or blower fan dead! why? -99 F350 CCLB
I noticed today when I had my truck on idle and parked suddenly the blower or heater fan what ever it's called died, so now I can't get warm air in the cab... And it's freezing and snowing outside... Is there any know problems with the blower in these trucks? the relay and fuse are all checked and working, but the fan is dead

If the blower motor quits and does not work on high
then you can rule out the resistor. The blowers are not
that hard to replace. I found in the past that it was one of
two things. Bad bushings or bad brushes. If your into tinkering
both problems can be fixed. I found that some small appliance
brushes fit. You will have to do some looking. And the bushings
just need a shot of oil The engine compartment side is a bit harder
to get at. I drilled a small hole in the cap and put some in that way
and topped it with a tiny plug. The fan side you remove the fan.
JUST DON'T DROP IT it's plastic and goes poof.
Also one easy test if it's not working place on high and test for
voltage at the plug should be very close to 12V

yesterday the fan stopped again, I then gave the fan motor one light knock with my hand and it started. I removed the motor and started to inspect it and found nothing wrong with it there is plenty of brushes left.
I did put it down on a table and when I lifted it up from the table next time I notice a lot of black dust probably from the brushes so I took a hammer and knocked carefully in the side of the electric motor and I don't lie when I say this I got almost one coffee cup full of that dust out from the motor.
And the blower has worked well since that
