68 pickup 3 Point Retractable Seat Belt Kit

so since i wrecked my truck, as many of u know. ive given much thought about safety. im in the process of purchasing things like disk brakes, brake booster, sway bars and a control valve for my over zelus P/S.

but what if my wife was in the truck when that blazer almost hit me? that can not happen

so my question is: is anyone using any 3 Point Retractable Seat Belt Kits for 67-72 trucks? i noticed on each side of the cab next to the rear window, there is a threaded bolt hole. was it for 3 Point Seat Belt options then?
if so what 3 Point Seat Belt Kits fit?

thanks

Yes. That's what the threaded holes are for. I plan to get some for my '67 in the near future.

I believe the lap/shoulder belts can be purchased from LMC. Also try Mac's Auto Prts or National Parts Depot. I've seen them in one of those catalogs.

The threaded holes in the cab corners were for the optional separate shoulder straps only.

With optional shoulder straps, the lap seat belts were different, came with TWO buckles: One for the tongue of the shoulder strap, one for the tongue of the lap seat belt.

1977 wa the first year that one piece shoulder belts were available.

I put them in my truck last week, I got them from Seatbeltsplus.com They were very easy to install and work perfect. I also ordered the hardware kit, it's only $4.95 and well worth it. The only thing you need are the bolts for the shoulder belt hole up above your head. I went to the local salvage yard and got the bolts from a early 80's car, they are a shoulder bolt with a spacer so that the shoulder mount will swivel. My holes were not threaded but the bolts from the salvage yard were self tapping, so I put them in with the air wrench first to thread the holes, them mounted them.

Here is a link to the ones I ordered

3 Point Retractable Seat Belt With Chrome Button w/ Contoured Sleeve : Replacement Seatbelts, Seat Belts, Retractable Seat Belts, and Seatbelt Extenders @ SeatBeltsPlus.co

Here's a picture of them installed, the second one was made will my cell phone, but it give you the basic idea of the mount.

this is super-easy to do in a '68 (because of the factory mounts), and well worth it.
i wouldn't ride in a vehicle without shoulder belts- too many nutjobs on the roads these days.

let me rephrase- i wouldn't use a vehicle without shoulder belts as a daily driver.
my Galaxie doesn't have shoulder belts...yet.
