Aluminum Base Plate under the carb Question
I noticed the Aluminum Spacer Plate between the Carb and the Intake Manifold is cracked and im sure its causeing a huge vacuum leak. There is a hole in the intake that matches up with that plate and Im trying to find an aftermarket plate that I can use in place of that original one. Is there a Replacment Plate that you can get to put between the carb and the Intake Manifold that will just cover that hole? I will take a picture of it so you will understand what Im talking about. Thanks for any help with this.

The original-style aluminum EGR spacer plates were notorious for burning out as yours has, and were replaced with cast-iron versions. It can be difficult to find the correct spacer plate, as they're different among engine families, and can even have year-to-year differences within an engine family. They are not reproduced.
Your best bet would be to try and find the same one in a junkyard, or on eBay. If you post more information (year, engine, etc), Mike or NumberDummy should be able to see if there are any available through a dealer or obsolete vendor.

Eight different possibilities. Need to know what the OP has. See if the original has an engineering number cast into it.
Here's one possibility:
Spacer, carb to intake manifold, cast iron
D7PZ-9A589-H
Last dealer cost $29.71 List $54.02
Haselden Brothers, Inc., Hemingway, SC has 1 (843) 558-2134

You know I half way thought about sawing that back piece off the adapter plate and taping the holes in the back of the plate and putting plugs in them, then also taping the Intake Manifold and pluging the hole in it as well then just put the plate back on with the gaskets provided with the rebuild kit for the carb. I figure if its all plugged off it wouldnt be able to create a Vacuum leak, In theory anyways. Im thinking the Truck is probably not going to suffer much not having that plate functional. Anyone have any advise they could share about my Idea? Has anyone done what im thinking about doing?

If I handnt of just spent money rebuilding the 2 Barrel I probably would move to an aluminum Intake and a 600CFM 4 Barrel Holley. Just cant see spending $500 to $600 to upgrade. I hear you though and the thought has crossed my mind a lot today...
