54 F100 - Total Fibreglass and dual diff
#31
Hi Bed
Thanks I note that I can upload directly from my hard drive... much easier!
No I do this as a hobby... rather full time as I was fortunate to retire at 45 and so golf... holidays and my cars. I enjoy a challenge and have always wanted to do a dual diff... so now that I have the time... so be it.
I will be in Austin in July 2014... have a weeding to attend... small world

Some feedback... with the 68 Camaro at the upholster shop... had some time to work on the 54.
Done the center section of the chassis and the brake booster bracket..still need to expand to the sides for the running boards etc.
The rear section has the two Jag IRS cradles. The rear one has a hydraulic slide that moves the the shock/coil overs towards each other and thus lifts the rear diff wheels. Tested this weekend with air and works like a charm..
Next was the fitment of the motor and then the engine mounts and shock brackets for the front suspension.
Started fitting the rear hydraulic load body mechanism I imported from Premium Supplies as well as the Curt 5th wheel...
Received the 6 Boyd Coddington Rodder wheels... and found 2 of them to be wobbly... and busy having them repaired... very disappointing...one of the Boyds Excaliburs for the 68 Camaro.. same problem... still cooling down before I mail them...
Should have the wheels back in the next couple of days which will help finalize the cad height, load body etc and can then start with the final chassis expansion to the running boards.
Small problem I have is where I will be putting the exhaust crossover... but that I am sure will solve itself later...
Will try and post more regular...

Some progress on the chassis and project in general. The chassis has been prepped and painted, now the fitment of the cab and all items such as steering and all firewall items. Making sure all items are test fitted before we tackle the body work general. The rear load body still needs a lot of work but enjoying the challenge
Some pic's of the progress

WOW, where to start! The truck is beautiful. The 56-style brow on the slant cab really caught my eye...nicely done. Those of us who spend a lot of time with these trucks get a bit jaded at times about how they are built, it is really nice to be caught off guard with a truck that has so many creative features. Thanks for sharing the great photos, you are surely very proud of your new truck.
