I just picked up this short box XLT sunday. Truck originally came from TN, has memphis dealer emblem on tailgate. The 2 barrel 302 shows 77,??? miles, runs good, longtube headers, and dual flowmasters. I have a four barrel intake and 600 Holley for it. Truck is in great shape other than rear wheel wells. Nothing rusted underneath. Has bedliner, and diamond plate tool box. Heres some pics.

Where I bought it from.

Here is the XLT GOLD emblem behind the rear wheel, never seen one before, thinking it was dealer put on because it looks to be made of diecast like the dealer letters.

Dealer emblem and factory overdrive emblem.

Engine

Has the under hood light.

Interior with woodgrain speaker inserts, trim, and map pockets, also has a CB radio. Has AC, crusie, tilt column, power windows/locks. Going to put my factory tach/trip meter bezel in it eventually from the parts 4x4.

Locking hood release

Thanks. I plan to put a four barrel on it, get air working, put factory tach/trip meter bezel in the dash, fix rear wheel wells and repaint the bottom under the lower trim, and leave the rest. Also would like to put chrome "sawblade" wheels from my '93 Flareside on it, and stainless vent shades instead of the plastic ones. Thinking about a lighted winshield visor. Then I plan to use it as a summer daily driver.

Thanks, should be a fun truck. Progress will be slow till weather warms up, and only chance I get to work on it is on the weekends.

The "XLT Gold" badges could be a dealer added option, based on the region in which the truck was originally shipped. I remember there being an "Oklahoma 89'er" package on some trucks that came into the dealership I worked at back in 84-86 timeframe. The badges came loose inside the truck, and were supposed to be installed by the dealer.
There was a pickup that we got thru a dealer transfer from Texas, and it had some other kind of badge on it, specific to Texas.

Nice find.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking it was something like that. Any idea what the GOLD package would include, being from TN new?

I like the tailgate cover.. any idea where I could find one? I have an 84 too, and didn't think they made them for this year.

Thanks, this is my favorite tailgate panel. I have been looking for one for my '86 for a while now and only found one without the letters. They are tough to find.

They are just covers that go over the originals. I am not sure, I like the looks of them, but I also like the look of the originals. I will probably leave them.

Looks good with them on was just curious. Some of them I think they don't match the truck when they are on you know what I mean?

I know what you mean, these kind of look like they are for the '87-96 trucks. They are a little more rounded.
