"Interesting" experience at a local salvage yard

"Interesting" here meaning a bit jarring.

Today went to a local salvage yard because the guy informed me (over the phone) he had four trucks in the 67-72 range with nice rear bumpers.

I roll into the place, slowly, looking where to park. There stands someone waving his arms emphatically at other customers in their vehicles, and appeared to be yelling. He sees me and darts to my window. As I roll my window down he turns to yell (more) at the other folks.

"Don't you know how to f___ing park? Move it!"

He turns to me with a red face.

"Would you like me to back up?" I asked?

"No! Let me get these f____ idiots to move first!"

He does. Then he turns to me and exclaims, "Now f___ing park there!"

My instinct was to turn around and leave, but I honestly thought there was a chance he would throw something at me or worse. So I parked and waited my turn.

He eventually approaches me, smiling. "Now what can I do for you, sir?"

I told him what I was looking for.

"Well you're going to have to f___ing wait! G__ d___ it everything happens at once around here! F___ wait here!" he yells as he stomps off to talk to someone else he yelled at before me.

I got in my vehicle and left.

Thankfully, there is another yard within driving distance where they I know for sure they are nice fellows. It is a much longer drive, but I think it will be worth it.

Junk yard owners and workers always seem to have "character".

It's hard to deal with idiots. I refuse to patronize a business that can't treat me or anyone else with a little respect. smh...

There is a salvage yard about a mile from me. I went there to get something once, and the TV/VCR that was on in the room you have to go through to get into the yard had a 'movie' on that left absolutely nothing to the imagination as to what the two 'actors' were doing with each other. XXXXXXXXXXX
I will never go back to that yard again.

Interesting to say the least. I too would have taken my business elsewhere. Here locally there are three salvage yards to go to, but so far I have not had a problem with any of them.

i have never had a bad problem with any of them excluding the fact that they think every old car might as well have a gold bar hidden in the glove box..... they are awful proud of stuff that is just scrap and part cars..... and my literal neighbor is a junkyard/salvage owner and he is one of the best neighbors anyone could ask for...

You did the right thing. That guy needs to learn how to properly treat his customers.

Ha! Good one!

Funny thing is the first 1/2 second of all this mess I thought something like, "Oh, boy, what did I do?"

The only thing I did, though, was show up at the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm guessing the "wrong time" is business hours.

I called the other salvage yard that is an hour drive. That fellow is checking his stock.

I went to a salvage yard in Colorado Springs a couple years ago and found that if you drive anything but an American made car he would chase you away with a shotgun. There was cars in that yard that had 2 foot dia. trees growing up thru them.

And if everyone in this county felt that way we would not be in the condition we are in now !
