My work truck is an 09 Exped 4x4. I have a roof mounted golight that is AWESOME for searching fields, t-stops, etc but not that great for driving (especially down county roads).

I am looking to get some more lights for my rig. I see A LOT of county roads and out here we have A LOT of deer, hogs, etc on the highways. I need to be able to see the sides of the roadways (for animals and crap) and also as far ahead as possible (for other roadway issues).

What options have y'all been using? What would y'all recommend for my situation? one of those led light bars? multiple off-road lights (combo of spot and flood)?

I did a search and most of the threads were either roof mounted (cant do that due to my light-bar) or mounted behind the grill (cant do that because that is where our sirens are mounted).

Well, if you have fog lights you can do a really nice pair of HID's in them. That will also let you control the lights by the switch for when you have on coming traffic.
Does this year model expedition only do either the high beams or low beams and not both?

I'd for one recommend getting HIDs installed top to bottom, the will be a significant upgrade. Try to get them at a whiter color (a small shade of blue doesnt hurt the looks of the truck). But I'm assuming this is a police vehicle? If you aren't aloud to use the HID's, try the silver star ultras. They've been pretty good for me.

 

If you have fogs (I am not extremely familiar with this year) but they are the crappy short and wide range, you can do something different. And even if you dont have them you can cut out the hole for them and drop a pair of long range lights in them. However, if you don't have them, finding a switch to wire them to might be tough..

Note that by changing you fogs for long range lights that you will lose the really wide light pattern form them. You can make up for that by getting better headlamp bulbs and adjusting the beam a little bit.

Also, the new F150s have projections that are factory and look just that. You could purchase a pair of those and it should be fine for police appearance. The ford projection headlamps are really unique and feature a really cool pattern of light. Each light does a 1/4 of a circle and when they are all lit up you get a really solid cirrular beam the would be magnificent for dark country driving with a pair of HIDs.

These are just ideas of what I'd do to mine.

 

Forget what I just said... Your video finally loaded and I got nothin on your current setup. You truck looks very nice though

 

You got a grill guard, you could mount things to that. Just anything that you add should be hid because that's really the only kind of light that will be an upgrade for you.


On second thought, goto auto zone and buy 2 relays (4 or 5 pin). Use one for each fog light. If you know how to wire relays, Great! If not, ask me. I'll help you out.

You're gonna want to keep your fog lights hooked up to the normal switch of course. So in order to do that, you just need to splice into their positive wires and add the 87 terminal relay wire with them. You can mount the relays under the hood. It should be fairly simple.

Here's the relays wire connections.

Pin 87 will goto one fogs positive wire (at the light itself)
Pin 85 will go directly to a ground source
Pin 86 will goto you high beam over ride as you won't want your fogs doing stuff with you headlamp flashers. (unless you want to maybe do them so the opposite fog flashes with the opposite highbeam)
Pin 30 goes to a constant positive source. You could probably hook it directly into the fuse fogs wire in the hood fuse box.


What this will do is run you fog lights with your highbeams and light that truck up like a train. That how my Expy works and it's pretty darn cool.
