straightening out a buckled hood?

so, i bought a car to use as a winter beater because the wonderful state of michigan seems to think theres no such thing as too much salt and im not going to expose my texas truck to salt. anyways, the previous owners wrecked a deer with the car and never got it fixed. the hood buckled and the bumper cracked. Ive already replaced the grill which made it look about 10 times better. Im gonna break out some bondo and jb weld to fill in the dents and make the bumper one peice again, but i want to get the hood straightened out before hand so it latches correctly again. never tried this and im not going to pay someone to do it since its just a beater. Im not trying to get it showroom new just try to get it far enough ahead to where it will latch like it did before it buckled. any advice?
