99 f250 5.4

went to meineke and they say my feul pump is shot....also has to replace a few feul lines and straps....wants 1000 bucks.....

is it even the feul pump....pressures low...truck has been running bad last few days...when u go to accelerate it doesnt go....and it gets worse as the truck gets warm....but i dropped it off for them to diagnose it....and when i picked it up it runs fine now...also it looks like they might have had the tank down cuz there are a few new bolts on there....?

Well, the fuel pump is in the fuel tank.

As for the price, that does seem steep, but it sounds like the issue was fixed. Did you get a breakdown of the costs involved?

If you're worried take it to another shop for a second opinion.

You need to get another shop to look at it. A good pump is going to cost around $275 to 350$ depending on which wheel base you have.

I have the pump, and lines for dirt cheap. Plus we install. Much cheaper than $1000

Try to always get a second or even third opinion... I had a '98 Z71 GMC before I got this truck. The GMC dealer told me that I needed a starter at 100,000 miles and I was still using it when I sold the truck at 220,000 miles. Took it to Mikinie(sp) one time to get something repaired, forget what, and left there with a shopping list of thing that they said it needed and never got any of those things done.

I've only had this truck for 4 or 5 months and absolutely love it. It's the 1st deisiel I've ever owned so the only problem so far is finding a good shop to take it to whenever I do need work done. I'm not big on dealers although I may have no choice.

Not sure the dealer would charge that much.....that seems like $150 an hour for labor
