EGR delete.
Ok, I'm sorry, this is most likly been posted before but, am to busy and lazy to look through all the threads. I am considering putting on an egr delete on my 05 6.0 F250. If I do so do I need to have the computer reset so that I do not get any check engine lights, etc or will I be ok just installing it? Thanks

That I can't help you with since I'm happy with my truck stock and I still have three years of ESP warranty left. SCT seems to be the preferred tuner around here. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

FWIW, i installed an egr delete kit, left egr valve installed on "intake elbow hole"( there is a threaded hole just above the actual egr valve location on the intake elbow) and plugged in to keep computer happy, and i have not gotten a check engine light or any other issue. my truck is an 05.

This is the way I understand it as well
as I have heard of 03-04s turning a CEL on
you can Unplug the EGR Valve and see what exact DTC set of coarse it will set a DTC for being unplugged but that should go away once plugged back in
IMO you will look for a Flow DTC if you get that you will need a Tunner

I just bought my truck two weeks ago and got a three year ESP. Just wondering if I should do the EGR delete now or wait until the end of the warranty (if it aint broke don't fix it). I live in a state where diesels are required to have the smog devices however, I have heard that the only thing they check for is a cat and no CEL on.. I have heard that by installing an egr delete, I will get more horsepower and better fuel milage too.

You might be able to do a Stealth Deleate
You wont notice any HP Gain
Maybe a MPG Gain but Small I got maybe 1mpg gain with a Deleate but I didnt do it for that
I did it because I dont like the Soot getting Pumped back into the Cylinders plus its Hard on everything Oil & Sensors Plus there is Nothing to Fail if its Gone
As long as you watch ECT vs EOT with a Gauge and keep the Oil Cooler in GOOD Health your EGR Cooler will be Fine
Since your truck is so new to you I think the Best thing here would be to change all fluids and Get a Gauge to check things over with
I use a ScanGaugeII its saved me a Ton of money by seeing issues Early in the Game when the Problems are Not Caught in time is when they can SnowBall and Get Spendy/Catastropic Fast
There are other Gauge setups that work Great To. But if I was you thats what I would Look Into First before a EGR Deleate anyway

You either weld up the exhaust inlet and outlet of the EGR cooler or install a block-off puck at the up-pipe/ EGR connection to block all exhaust flow into the engine.
It's "stealth" since it looks like the engine is still using the cooler when it isn't.

Mine is an 05 in signature and its had the EGR unplugged at times and never thrown a cell. I am on the buzz flash and updated strategies. If you stealth delete, just watch and see if you get the light or codes. Really depends on your state and the testing they actually do. I am now running all stock and she runs clean and good. I have never replaced or cleaned my EGR and have checked it many times. Spend your money on maintenance, fuel conditioner and good fuel. The SG 2 is a great idea too. I have an old outlook monitor but serves the same purpose, just not as much info as you can get from sg2.
