I can`t remember for sure but I think that the older high compression 429`s would run on just one cylinder.

Never thought they'd do that. My first thought was COOLING!!!! The other bank is going to have some major heating issues with no coolant running through. Or are those ones split? I know the older ones had dual water pumps and split rads, but were they split in the block as well??

Cooling shouldnt be an issue, its now air cooled haha.

Neat Morris that a 429 could run off of one cylinder.

Those high compression 429`s were almost like a diesel but they required premium fuel.

Today so called ''gas'' doesn`t have enough octane to run a 429, it would just ping.

No, I don`t thinks so as back in the early 90`s I installed a Thunderbird 429 into a friend`s 76 F250 and it ran on propane but pinged really bad on premium gas no matter how far I retarded the timing. I guess octane booster might be the answer.

Today`s fuel has way too low of an octane rating for 10.5:1 compression.

Those are pretty mighty engines!

Just looked it up, "they" say you can run pump gas through higher compression engines. Octane boost does seem popular.

In the late 90`s I had a 69 Mach I with the 351 4V/290 hp and while it certainly did not like premium gas with careful driving it was manageable.
