F series trucks

Can someone explain to me how the series of trucks were named in 1986, I see there was a F-350 but see nothing for F-450, F-550 ect, seems to jump to F-600, got to be something in between? Thanks

From a unreliable source, they say the f450 was introduced in 1987. Didn't exist earlier unless you include the F4 from the 1950's. They also say it was only offered as a chassis cab until 2008 when they offered it with a pickup bed.

The f600's and up were the medium duty trucks, not based on pickups back in these years. Different class of vehicle. They make lots of trucks now, that they didn't in the earlier years.

Between 1980-1986

F-Series Light Duty: F-100 (1980-1983 only) / F-150 / F-250 / F-350

F-Series Medium Duty: F-600 / F-700 / F-800 / F-900

C-Series Medium Duty: (Cab over) C-600 / C-700 / C-800 / C-900

B-series Medium Duty: (Bus) B-600 / B-700 / B-800 etc...

L-Series Heavy Duty: L-7000 / L-8000 / L-9000 etc...

The Medium duty F-series trucks shares some parts with the light duty pickups, and general overal body design concepts. Do an image search on google, yahoo or whatever and you will see the differences and the similarities.

For fun, you can search for the Brazil F-1000.
Or the B-100 through B-350 light duty buses that are mexican...

The F-450 and F-550 were introduced for the trailer towing market to bridge the gap between the F-350 light duty pickup (classed that way) and the medium duty F-600 and larger. There was an F-Super Duty that was F-350 based, but with a live axle instead of twin I-beams.

He probably will correct me if I am wrong, but I am assuming the original poster saw one of those later trucks they make now, and said "I would like to have one of those only a older model" and can't find it, because they were never made. Is that correct?
