Offy Heating Plate

I'm making a few of the heating plates b/f Xmas. A PM works well.

Now I use a long radius elbow in place of the galvanized pipe fitting. I also weld hose bibs to the end of the tubes. It comes with a gasket. I should also note that the tubes no longer spread away from each other at suck an angle. I had to move them closer together so they would fit in the proper mailing box. It is finished with gloss black high temp paint.

I also have these stud kits, grade 8, with crimp nut and washers.

I don't have photos of one mounted. It is for the underside of an Offenhauser intake. When mounted the two hose fittings are pointing toward the right front tire.

In the photo below you can see one of the hoses connected to one of the tubes of the plate.

I've been looking into making the manifold out of aluminum.

You could use a 1/2" alum. plate and a nipple/elbow combination

Mcmaster car links
Plate 8975K415
Fitting 53525K58

roughly 60 makes 3 plates plus your time to make them

Aluminum would be cool. Just curious though, what would be the advantages to switching?

I don't think there would any advantage to using a heating plate made of aluminum. I would certainly save on drill bits though.

Exactly, only gain is looks and a minor savings in weight. Oh and the mentioned machineability over steel plate.

I have toyed with the idea of making a heated spacer for the carb from something like this
Mr. Gasket Carburetor Spacers 6006 - SummitRacing.com

Would keep the heater lines up away from the hot manifolds
