cant seem to get rear shock mount off

ok so I broke a shock mount the other day and im trying to replace it. ground the rivits off the outside of the frame and cant get them out to get shock mount off. I have tried air hammer,small sledge and a punch no luck, just beat my brains out. anyone got any tricks ?

Usually once the head of rivet is off, a punch(air chisel) to the center should drive it out.

Make sure you have the whole head off? You can usually see the outline of the hole when you do. Never had much trouble, even with hammer and punch to get them out.

maybe I haven't got the whole thing off but im pretty sure I did. I could see the outline of the hole and ground totally smooth with frame

Well, it sounds like you got it all. They get crimped pretty tight in the hole, so maybe a touch of heat?? then air chisel.

You can either heat the center of the rivet w a torch to soften it then punch out or drill w a 3/8 bit into the center of the rivet then hit w punch(that will give the riet some room to collapse on its self

thanks brad I will try that tomorrow. you would think all the rivets I took out doing my swap I would have figured out an easier way
