Thanks, thought locktite might be a good idea and I did find 89 ft-pounds on the flywheel bolts too. Everything came in today so now it's a matter of putting it back together.
Don't know if you guys are aware of it but I got 10% off for being a member of this forum.

I got the Valair from that number in Texas in the begining of this thread. Spoke to Nick.

Got her back together. Rattle and vibration is gone. One question. Not 100% sure the guy at the parts store gave me the right fluid to go in it. It's Mercron automatic transmission fluid, is that correct?

Is it synthetic fluid? It's required in the ZF-5 when installed behind a diesel.

I told the guy at the parts store that's what the manual said. He said all automatic transmission fluid was.

I suspected as much. This was O'Rielly's. I only drove it about 5 miles. Not going to drive it any more until I change the fluid again.
Got to get use to that new clutch, it engages higher up than the old one.

A lot of guys put an extra 2 or so quarts in the transmission to lessen the gear rollover noise from the single mass flywheel.

Wonder if that's what I heard. There was a noise in the transmission that wasn't there before. Only did it when I let off on the accelerator. Figured it was because of the fluid being wrong.

Want to thank you guys for all the help. It's like a different truck now. Changing the fluid did help the noise in the transmission. I don't have a rattle that sounds like a loose dustcover at idea anymore and the vibration that felt like a bad center support bearing on the driveshaft is gone too. I had replaced that bearing before thinking that was the problem. The only thing now is me getting use to the clutch. The other one engaged near the floor, this one about halfway up. Done killed it starting off on one hill.
Overall I'm satisfied with the results. Couldn't had done it without y'all. Many thanks!

Well, seems I've got a problem. I think I know what it is but I want to get your opinion on it first and see do you think I should pull the transmission back out. I REALLY don't want to have to do that.
After a couple of days it started making a roaring sound when in neutral, and the clutch engaged. Everything inside the bellhousing was replaced. Opinions please?

Gear rollover. That's normal with the SMF. Did you overfill the transmission by 1 or 2 quarts? That will help with the noise.

I put 5 quarts in. The manual calls for 3.4. I really thought it was a bad throwout bearing. Glad to hear it's normal.

Well, it seems it's always something. A new problem developed with the clutch. About a week ago a "sticking" developed in the pedal while engaging to clutch. It only does it for a split second, but it makes it very difficult to engage the clutch without making the truck jump.
I replaced all the bushings under the dash a few short months ago.
I thought it might be a piston sticking in one of the cylinders, master or slave.
What do you guys think?
