So I'm looking at trading some stuff to get an 1984 F150 with the 300i 6 and just have a few questions about the tranny.

First it is an automatic transmission. I'm wondering if it would be a c4 or c6? Reason why I ask is because I love the c6 for some reason and plan on swapping the engine to a 351 for a school project.

If it's 4x4 and only 3 speeds, it's going to be a c6. But if it has overdrive it could be a AOD. The c5 was also offered that year in the 2wd trucks. Get the info off the door jamb sticker.
