Greetings V10'rs

Howdy All

I'm not new to Ford Forums but yesterday we drove home our "New To Us" '99 F250, V10, Man. Trans., 4X4.

We didn't steal it by any means but with 63K original miles the steering and shifting still feel factory stiff. I'm real satisfied with the drive and ride. My last F250 was a 7.3 Diesel. I'm now firmly in the "Never Again" camp as far as diesels go. Great work trucks, we use them every day in construction, but sombody else is working on them and buying the parts.

So, the Christmas List has been started with a new Factory Shop Manual at the top of the list. Anybody with a suggestion please feel free to chime in. In the past I have been using a PDF and like the search options that digital provides. Any suggestions appreciated.

I think I'm starting to see a trend of 7.3 guys moving to the V-10. It seems to be quite a viable option with the issues and cost of the 6.0 and 6.4.
I'm considering the switch myself.

Yup I agree. I had a 7.3 for many years, and no desire to chase the mod world for the bullet proofing on the 6 and 6.4's. I may have taken a small hit on the mpg's but it's to small of a comparison when you take in the service cost reduction, and a whole set of plugs and wires and boots are less than one injector.

Congrats on the V10 and the manual trans!

Your first gift to your truck and self should be a tuner from Mike at 5Star.

No, not yet. We needed to get home to get some work done around the house. I've put off a county inspection of a new wood stove install long enough that our home owners insurance company is calling. How a wood fire in my living room could be more important than a new Ford Truck is a mystery to me, but they have their own ideas.
Anyway, Maybe this weekend.

I hate to hijack the thread but I have a 99 V10 as well. Why is the five star tuner so important? Is it worth the investment? What should I expect from the tuner?

Better shift points seem to be one of the main reasons. More power

Congrats on the new ride! There is a forum member, username nicmike who came across dealer service manuals(literally a pallet or two) from a closed dealership and was selling for a very reasonable price.I bought the three volume set for my 00 250 about a month ago.Mike shipped them within a day and they arrived when he said they would in good shape. There were only a few volumes available for each year, there may be one available for your 99.Thread was moved to classifieds.
