2005 SCREW Rear Squeal AFTER Braking
I just got a new to me 2005 super crew 4x4. Love this truck but there is something that bothers me. There is a squeal noise come from the right rear wheel after I brake.
I have NO squealing during braking, sounds like from reading other posts I am the lucky one. The steering wheel does not shutter when I brake, it is smooth. I only hear the noise after I take off from a stop, after I let off the brake. It doesn't make the noise every time I stop. It seems like it is worse when I am turning left, doesn't seem to do it much when I go straight. Its almost like the caliper hangs up for a little bit, but its not hot to the touch after driving it for a while.
This morning I jacked the rear up and took the wheel off. The pads look new, the rotors look good. I took the calipers off and lubricated the the metal strips where the calipers slide and I also lubricated the pins. I also lubricated where the back of the pads contact the caliper. I also adjusted the e-brake way in, thinking it might be making the noise also. Put it all back together, sounded good at first, when after a few miles around town it started up again.
Is there anything that needs lubricated in the e-brake assembly? Such as where the e-brake pads contact the sheetmetal shield on the back side?
I did have to work to get the caliper off. Are the pads supposed to sort of snap down onto the metal strips? I had to tap the inner pad with a hammer and punch to get it past the upper metal strip, such that I could get the caliper off. Are they normally this tough to take off? Thanks for any advice. I'm wondering if I should just live with this issue. Can't here it with the radio on.
