I've got a bit of a question for you guys. Maybe you can share some wisdom. My sister is looking at getting a new car, and I finally talked her out of a Subaru, Kia, and Jeep. She's now pretty much solid on the 2013 Ford Escape. But she wanted me to see what I could find out on little Eco-boost they put in that. At a dealership yesterday the salesman told her that these engines have been out since 2008 and that he's never seen one come back. Fairly certain that my dad was with her so it wasn't just carsalesman talk to a 25 year old woman. What do you guys know or have heard about the Ecoboost and the other engine (2.5L Duratec) they offer in the Escape SE and Escape S respectively. I'm thinking by the sounds of what she was saying for gas mileage she's thinking about the 1.6L Ecoboost, but not 100% sure. Trying to dig up some research, now so any help or directions you can point me in would be appreciated!
The Ecoboost motors have been nothing but great so far. I've not driven a 1.6 myself. But they move the car decent and get decent mileage. Myself, I would go to the 2.0 EB though. Not sure how the package price varies though. The 2.0 will be better to drive, and for resell. It's barely lower on the MPG front too. Since both the 1.6 and 2.0 can be had in the SE format, it should be a close MSRP...
