Braking issue

Hey guys.

I came here after I lost a brake line and bent my front suspension and got great help so I'm back hoping to find some insight

So I will go over a few basics here

New front lines( new fluid with them)
New front pads recently, old were worn quite evenly and the new looks to be just fine, so not them.
Rotors have been around the block but are still good
Used lightning wheels and good tires put on about 7k ago
Rear drums and shoes are OEM at 135,000 but still a lot of shoe material left there

The issue I am having seems to be a pulsating while braking. It is usually while light to moderate braking, especially when going downhill
It is not all the time, it seems to be intermittent.
I don't feel it specifically in the steering , nor is it pulling.
It's more of a feeling like the rear brakes are being applied.
You can feel it through a pulsing in the pedal. I thought fried rotors but I have done that a few times, it's not like it has been when I did that before.
I tried pulling the ABS fuse to see if it was the rear ABS kicking in and this did not help it at all.

So I'm having fun trying to figure out what I s wrong here
Any ideas?

Could be rear drums are warped, it can and does happen sometimes.

Good point. Forgot to add that info. Tried the e brake while driving thing. Nice a smooth. Almost useless for stopping power but not causing the pulsing

I know you said that the front rotors are good, but you also said they have been around the block, did you happen to have them turned when you did the front brakes? or check them for warping?

They were not pushing at all when I did them and still now I can make a fairly fast hard stop with no pulsing. It's just random whether it pulses or not

New drums and shoes and hardware did remove some of the pulsing on mine, but it could have been the rotors too. I just replaced everything except calipers on mine.

I will say. Before I put new pads rotors and shoe and drum on it I wi be finding a set of E-series front brakes and explorer rears. But I really do not think its just warped rotors

Is it possible the vacuum booster could be causing a pulsed pressure?
