Brake disc upgrade 1978
Hello to all the enthusiasts and experts out there. I have a 1978 F100 which is the main love interest in my life, apart from the wife.
For some years I have been wanting to install larger diameter front discs, but the advice I get is because of the nature of the design, I am stuck with what I got. However, it must be possible, as I have seen pics of trucks with larger discs. But maybe it necessitates changing the whole front suspension over for Jaguar or some other brand. I would appreciate hearing any useful advice. And yes, I have tried the search function.
:-)
Thanks

'don't know of any larger diameter rotors and upgraded calipers that fit on the stock spindle. I believe the best out there are drilled and slotted rotors and semi-metallic or ceramic pads. Use of the latter come with their own caveats.
The rigs out there with larger diameter discs likely use IFS systems like from Heidt's or Fatman Fab...they're based of the Mustang II and the aftermarket has tons of options for 'em.
