I have a ford bicentennial f 150 with a 390 very good condition with 55, 000 miles on it i got it from my grandpa he bought it new can anyone tell me how rare it is

 

The package itself isn't considered rare (like only a few made), but they sure aren't seen very often and I have never seen one that I remember. I'd love to see some pics of the truck. One thing for sure though, is to take some detailed pics of the truck so that in the future if you ever need to restore it, you'll have details of the decals. They are not produced anymore and you'd need to get them made.

Dude, i would sell it and get a different to build. The truck is probably worth a fair bit of money.

 

I had to read his post a couple of times. I think what he meant to say was he's going to keep it all original.

That's a good thing! I have yet to see the Bicentennial edition and a eagerly await the photos! By the way welcome to FTE, lots of good folks here to help you with your restoration.

Hate to say it but I don't think Ford thought long enough about the design options of that model. Will it be worth something some day? Probably, moreso than others just due to being a little different.



I've wondered how long it will be before these trucks as a whole will be considered collectable. They just made so many of em. I already know the fixed up ones turn heads fine, just wonder how long it'd be before they're worth serious cash too.

 

I just caught a 50-51 chev pickup on Barret -Jackson go for 20k. I'd bet the owner had 40-50k easy in it judging from the condition. What are nice 53- 55 F-100s going for nowdays?

 

I've been watching Mecum cause the cars/trucks are more my speed.
Haven't caught any F100/150s goin across the block.
I didn't know there was such a thing as the bicentennial F150.
I would buy the shnit out of one if I could, I love it.
Man, keep it original. That is a cool ride.

 

I made that point previously (on another thread) and basically got flamed for it....but my point still holds true, unless these trucks hold some sentimental value to you, and/or you plan on keeping them forever, the resell value is usually a net loss, a huge loss, when compared to investment.

Nobody will ever love your truck more than you do, trust me, and this becomes painfully obvious on auction/sell day, it's just reality.

 

I don't think collecters who have a vehicle built for them have the same personal attachment to thier vehicles as do us guys who drive, nurture, bleed and sweat on and maintain them til we have them "finished". I don't doubt thier attachment, I just don't think it's the same.
Some people ask me whats the difference?, 78 / 79 looks the same to them. To me though I see my 78 (sept) and I know that it's one of the last trucks Ford made to come with round headlights. Others see their 79s as the first series to have modern lights, but in the last of the older body styles.
To me my truck is priceless, to my brother it's 15-$2500 that he can get for it when I kick. To him his 67 Cougar is priceless, thats why he's had it for 35 years and is rebuilding it again.
This is just an opinion and I hope the guy who bought the bicentenial truck bought it for nostalgic purposes and if its just to flip, well, then I hope he wears it.

 

Whenever you attach the word "sentimental" to anything, it can get real expensive real quick......I know!
Right now I've got close to $30K in the Pumpkin and it isn't even ready for paint.
I have a very strong sentimental (keyword, "mental") attachment and I want the best for her.
Resale value has never entered my mind. I do know that if I did sell it I would be very luck if I got close to half of what I will have in it when I'm done.
Eventually, as the available supply of trucks starts to dry up, the prices will go up. I doubt I'll be around to see it though.

 

the highest price i saw a dent go for was 10,500 it was mint all oringinal garage kept it was a 75 390 autimatic. BTW 1975 was the last year for the fe motor unless you have a late 75 its not a 390
