Ring and pinion

Wheres a good place to get a set of ring and pinion gears for both axles? Plus, what type of axles do I have? I've got 35" tires and stock gearing. Needless to say I'm sucking down gas, going slow, and 5th gear is useless. Also, what would be a good ratio to get. I would like something with a little kick in the pants since the truck doesn't see much highway at all. 1995 F-150 5.0 5-speed manual XL.

You have the Ford 8.8 in the rear and a Dana 44 in the front. I would just shop around your local parts suppliers and check out Summit Racing, they're usually pretty competitive. As for brand, I always install Quality Gear sets in anything I'm working on, but there are other brands just as good. Remember, you get what you pay for! I would go at least 4.10s with 35" tires, I put 4.56s in my F250 with 35s, which brought the effective ratio back to the stock 4.10. You didn't mention what your current gearing is, but here's a tire/gear calculator: Tire/Gear Calculator
Assuming you have 3.55s, you need to step up to 4.28 just to get back to stock, so 4.56 is probably a good bet, but you may need to go even lower, such as 4.88. Since you're not on the highway, you may as well go to 4.88. The other thing to consider is how hard you're going to wheel this thing. The 44 won't handle serious abuse, but should be ok for mild wheeling. Same goes for the 8.8.

See I usually buy from summit but I was suprized to see they don't carry ring and pinion gears for my truck. Unless I can look up ring and pinions for a Ford Mustang with an 8.8 and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the D44 in front?

I imagine you could do that for the 8.8, not sure about the 44. Might be better to buy locally, using a good partsman you can trust to order the right stuff.

Check with the sponsors too, Jeff's Bronco Graveyard carries some good brands, and they're very helpful.
