86 f-150 straight 6, the side cover on the drivers of the engine keeps working loose and leaking oil badly, we tightened it up but it still leaks. Should I replace the gasket? Should I tear it apart and rtv the snot out of it? Which rtv? Should I just tighten up the bolts once a month like I do the oil pan on the 460 in my 69?

I wouldn't use RTV, the new gaskets are way better than the original cork ones. I got a rubber gasket set with the bolt O rings and just used Vaseline to hold it in place. Maybe your O rings have gone hard and causing the bolts to loosen

The Fel-Pro gasket set I got at NAPA fixed that exact same problem on my truck - the original cork gaskets were crumbling. It's an easy job.
