engine swap

I have an 86 Bronco and I am putting in a 91 7.3L IDI diesel and was wonder, after the turbo kit is installed, will I need to change the axels and transfer case? I am afraid that the increase torque will break the gears.

Kind of both, I have a, I believe, 205 and it has on it right now 35" tires and i don't think I will be changing them to bigger sizes.

if you do have the np 205 t-case it should be ok, it is supposed to be one of the toughest made. as for the axles i'm not so sure, with 35's and hard wheeling they will probably break eventually.you could just run them till they blow then upgrade to dana 60's

The NP205 is gear-driven. There is no chain to stretch or break and it can be modified to "twin stick" operation. They are a sought-after commodity. By the way, don't worry about it behind a 7.3. The BW t-case that lived behind that 7.3 in 1991 was a far weaker unit.

If you have a 86 Bronco, stock it would have a NP208 or a BW-1345. No NP205's in Fords after 1979.

And if you are using the diesel T-case I believe the 91 should be a BW-1356.
