installing 2 way alarm

Has anyone installed a 2-way pager alarm themselves on their X?

i have one that was for another car, but i've decided to put it on my excursion. im picky with taking my cars to shops, especially for electronics, double especially for alarms lol. i want to route and hide all the wiring/brain/etc myself. is it hard? its a remote start as well, all the goodies (viper 5902).

It is a very serious and professional install only. Unless you are a very experienced installer do not attempt. I am and have been installing for twenty years and it takes 2.5 to 3 hrs of committed install time. Factor in bypass module programming and trust me do not attempt.

i refuse to touch alarms/remote starts. i have a guy that does all my installs and everything i own has a remote start on it. he takes his time and knows every system in/out. i figure its worth a few hundred for all the hassle. its funny i can wire up GPS watch dog units, any amount of lights, extra heaters..ect but will not touch a remote start.

i had my PATs bypassed also so i could use any key that i wanted to that was cut for the truck.

i have the Viper 5901, could not see the extra $$ for the better screen. range is amazing, knowing the inside temp is awesome..all in all a wonderful product. this was originally installed in my black '00 back in 2010 then removed after it was totaled and installed in my '02 in October 2010.

I've been a certified installed for over 20 years and remote start is a PITA! The rest of the alarm isn't terrible on the Ex but if you haven't done it before it is best to leave it to a shop. I wouldn't worry about someone knowing the locations of items and you can always specify a specific location if you want something different. I've had people request behind the glove box for example just to keep it from being obvious.
