Replacing oil pan gasket on 2005 5.4 4x4

I had a dye test performed and had two leaks. One was from the oil filter adapter gasket that I fixed this weekend, the other is from my oil pan gasket.

While I was under there, i checked and tightened the oil pan bolts to see if that may fix the leak.

If it doesn't, what is involved? Some of those bolts are hard to get at and I'm not sure how much clearance is needed to get the pan out. Can someone with some tools,a jack, and two jack stands do the job?

Any instruction and tips are greatly appreciated.

You have to drop the front axle in order to get enough clearance for the pan to come off. There was a thread recently about this, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Okay, got it... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-rattling.html

The adapter gasket is most likely the problem. If the oil pan bolts are torqued to specifications they very rarely leak as the original gasket is reusable with a rubber o-ring type of seal all the way around. It also has built in washer/spacers to keep it from squeezing the gasket too tightly. Any gasket other than a Ford OEM type will likely leak in due time.

I replaced the filter adapter gasket and it seems to have done the trick.

Thanks.
