6.0 vs 6.4
#2
I know this wont be popular but IMO they make would make excellent boat anchors. I love Ford trucks and have owned over 35 of them but the 6.0 and 6.4 have been nothing but problems and one reason I still run a 2000 with the 7.3. I also recently purchased a 2003 6.8 because it was getting to the point I couldn't run an 08 6.4l without going broke.
PRO's Both have lots of power and the 6.0l has better fuel economy than the 6.4l
CONS. My 03 F350 before 100k blew the turbo once. Have gone thru 4 injectors so far. Yeah I know should replace them all but I don't have any extra thousand dollar bills. When one injector went it also coked up the 2nd turbo to the point of having to replace it.
My 08 F450 with the 6.4 has gone through a radiator, EGR and housing and gets 2qts of diesel fuel in the oil between my 5000 mile rotella T6 oil changes. Fuel mileage is terrible. Towing a 10-14k trailer and load I get 7.5mpg. Semi's get s good mileage nowadays.
If you aren't towing over 12k I wouldn't want either motor.
