4r100 trans problem

i have a 2000 f250 5.4.
trans started shifting weak and going down the road would start to slip n rev engine rpm's up. would move engage slow n move real slow.
now it goes fairly good for some reason. was full of fluid.
thought i would change the fluid. upon removing the pan i found some gasket material pcs. its about 1/2 wide, thin and seems to be curved.
when i got this truck the trans shifted pretty hard. dont know if someone had put some sort of shift kit or something in it.
looks like all the places for a gasket would be square or rectangular from looking up in there.
wonder if there is a gasket that can be replaced with just the pan being off.
thanks for any info.

A picture of your metal carnage would go a long way to getting you some.

My old eyes are not good enough anymore. I can't tell if that is gasket material or clutch material. If you could post a larger picture I could probably make it out.
