well, I can understand the desire but typically the secondary response from the thief is to just place the container under your truck & with a pick, punch a hole in the bottom of the plastic tank...it drains faster than siphoning.....

a better soltuion/recommendation is to run with just 1/2 tank...it's a little harder to siphen out of........

Exclamation

I just bought one of these for $22.00 on Ebay from a Ford Dealer.

More of a locking "plug", since the new F150's have the capless design.

Still weird having an open space there. This little plug seals it off.

This is awesome...didn't know they even made something like that! It's still weird looking at where a gas cap "should be".

It's worth noting that you can't siphon the latest gen of trucks, at least not in the traditional way. The capless design won't unlock unless you use a fuel nozzle or specially shaped funnel, then you've got a ball-and-cage valve behind it, to prevent evaporative emissions. (Which, coincidentally, also prevents a hose from going down the filler tube.)

With most vehicles nowadays it's easier to siphon from underneath. People that do it legally disconnect the filler tube, either on the body end or the tank end, and then siphon accordingly. People that do it illegally will just punch the tank. We had a lot of practice with the former during Hurricane Sandy.

You could just get a locking one like above and don't lock it.

I had one on my 87 f150. You could leave it unlocked. Then again that wasn't the capless filler neck

Obviously I have this on my truck, had in on my '12 Mustang before as well. As mentioned above, you cannot siphon through the filler opening on these vehicles and I never had an issue with contamination from the open access. Might be an issue as the vehicle ages but at least initially that little rubber gasket around the door works better than you'd think.
