400 exhaust DIA.

I have a mild built 400 with a comp cam and edelbrock manifold and carb. has long tubes and i was thinking about running 3 inch with an x pipe topped off with some flowmaster super 44s but wasn't sure if the 3 inch would be to big.Should i stick with 2.5? Denfinatly NO glasspacks. Any suggestions on size.

Stick with 2.5-inch tubing. A 3-inch system will garner little benefit unless your engine sees more than 5500 RPM on a regular basis.

Need a tubing kit? Hit up Speedway Motors.. they have a 2.5-inch system for around $140.

Bigger isn't always better, you eventually reach a point of diminishing returns, and in this case 3" is just a little too big.

2.5" piping achieves a happy medium between decreasing backpressure while at the same time promoting exhaust velocity and scavenging.

Another vote for the 2.5" pipes. Also I like the 44s as well. I run a pair of super 10s now and I love em!
