Dennis, not to be concerned, but i have done this 3 or 4 times and once i had it effect the thermostat. THere is a little bleader hole in the thermostat with a plug/ wire in it. THis allows a small amount of water to pass thru it and make the thermostat warm up as the head gets hot. Also makes sure there is no differential pressue across the thermostat when closed. I had the BARS plug that hole somewhat on one occasion and had a bouncing temp gauge about the time the thermostat would open. Keep that in mind if you see something after 5 miles of running. Only saw that once.

very frustrating
I have 2003 Ford F150 5.4 same problems, except my temp doesnt rise and go back down, It blows warm then cold, when blowing cold will puke water out the degas bottle. have tested for gases to rule out the head gasket, replaced everything but radiator and burped it-done it all. Steve thought might have pin hole in head gasket, I am going to try the sealer also.

I tried the Bars 1111 to see if it was better than the Copper Gasket Sealer. I still had a small internal leak, a cup full loss every few days. This lasted for 2 weeks. I had been using the Copper Sealer in the past. I just added 1/2 bottle of the Copper this morning , drove 20 miles to work, and sealed up tight. I guess the $10. stuff works better for me than their $30. stuff. This normally works for about 9-10 months then i start seeing a small usage of coolant. Been doing this for over 3 years now. Maybe someday i will get another motor, but its too easy to get by this way.
